Pepin the Swift, now also in English!
The Sociedad Gaditana de Historia Natural (SGHN) is proud to present the English translation of the published story Pepín, the Swift (‘Pepín, el vencejo’), written by Chúss Fernández, with illustrations by Carla Bernal Jiménez and layout by Álvaro Pérez Gómez.
The English version, called ‘The Story of Pepín, the Swift’ and translated by Daniel Barber, can now be downloaded free of charge from the SGHN website.
The story tells the tale of Pepín, a young swift that falls from his nest and is cared for by volunteers until he learns to fly. Through the story, children and adults alike will discover how swifts that have fallen to the ground are rescued, fed and cared for until they can be released, highlighting the effort and dedication of those who generously help these birds regain their strength so that they can fly free and happy. This story reminds us of the fragility and magic of these birds, which spend most of their time soaring through our skies and sharing space in our cities to breed.
